Hi, I’m Sierra.
I’ve been a rebel for most of my life. So when I was told that the trauma I survived was too big to ever fully heal, I did the best thing I could: I told them to fuck off. I rebelled. I experimented. I explored. I learned.
I apprenticed for years with an extraordinary woman, studying breathwork, pattern and belief shifting, and the art of deep transformation.
Later, I went rogue. I lived wildly and I learned from life itself.
Eventually I found my way back, returning to the breath through yoga, pranayama, and deeper study. Through every twist of the journey, there has always been a single thread: transmuting trauma into free energy. On the dance floor. On the mat. In my body.
I believe in living big and full. I have alchemized tremendous suffering. Today, I live a life that brings me real joy.
I am a mother. A writer.
A lover. And a skilled practitioner in service to liberation.
Healing is meant to be a season, not a life sentence. We are meant to live and to truly enjoy our lives.

Embrace your own dark past, for there are treasures there.
This morning I was on a walk. It was cold, and I could see my breath.
The sunlight pierced in thin blades through the canopy of oaks while my feet hit a soft cadence on the packed earthen trail.
A primary motivation to walk this morning was the pain in my hips. I have old injuries that have nestled and demand I care for myself in very specific ways.
I felt the tremendous gift of these injuries as I walked in the early morning light. The ways they’ve pushed me into depths of character as well as physical practice. I have mourned and raged about them.
And yet, I can receive them as the Masters Degree they are.
I am the woman I am today because of all the life I’ve lived. And as I’ve allowed the darker bits to alchemize through feeling the pain there, I have received the wisdom, the profound beauty of my souls choice to alchemize really difficult situations.
Ultimately, it is all energy. When I can let go of the story of victimhood, and feel the actual pain frozen in there, I free the energy, I become free.
Liberation is available.

Why Persephone?
Divorce is an initiation.
Recognizing initiations, not as popular vernacular, but as authentic rites of passages actually expedites the process.
When I left my husband, it was a radial initiation for me.
Initiation into full self responsibility, accountability and a coming home to me.
I came into my own power, and a bubbling permission to pursue my desires fully.
The first year I lived as a solo parent was brutal.
It’s very tidy for me to write that “I went through an initiation and came into my power and came home to me”.
The reality was MESSY AF, and s l o w.
The first year I was brittle. I was stressed to the point where I truly felt like my bones might break under the pressure.
I had to excavate my actual self out from under all the behaviors and beliefs I’d acquired in a marriage where I did my best to perform for love.
Scraping away years of self abandonment patterns in the name of ‘making the marriage work’, I had to go down and down and down in my excavation to locate me. To really find my own bones.
I kept tracking my desire.  I followed it, even when it felt crazy.
Here’s the thing, everyone wants the shiny ending. The amount of woman who approach me now asking how I did it, very few want the truth.
Initiation sounds sexy, but the reality of a true initiation is complex and dark, rich and challenging.
I let it take me all the way down, so I could rise.
It took me years.
And Persephone is the map I used.

Waiting for him to change, for me to change, for life to feel easier and more open.
Waiting for him to stop blaming me, stop yelling at me.

I spent 10 whole years of my life waiting for something that never happened.
And then I spent years forging forgiveness for myself.
Shedding resentment and taking responsibility for staying.
Owning that in staying I was living an excuse of why I couldn’t do my work.
I believed that this was all I was worth.
The night I chose to leave, I was so scared.
But, I was finally more afraid of staying than I was of leaving.
I took my time dismantling the stories and beliefs that had me choosing that timeline.
Took my time to clear away the debris and really land in my essence.  Choose me.

I had a friend who was needing to move and had to find a spot ASAP. She was home packing when she got the nudge to go get a manicure. She felt like it was a ridiculous thing to do when so much needed to be done.
But, she knew this flavor of nudge and trusted it.
While receiving her manicure she met a woman who had the perfect next home for her. She ended up living in that home for nearly a decade.
This is how desire can move us. Through a nudge to a seemingly off track and ridiculous experience, and yet, exactly right.
In Persephone we explore listening to this. Learning the language of desire and how to adapt to following.

I stretched myself out at the bottom of the swamp and looked at all of me.

The identity of Married Woman and what I had invested in that. Invested my sense of security, both socially and financially.
How I liked being seen as a claimed woman and the smugness I had in that.
Yes, I got very honest with myself. I stripped myself down.
Any sensation that arose that felt off, I sat with.
I peeled it apart and asked why, how, and what it was serving in me.
I was, and am passionate about freedom. Mine and yours.
I am good at stalking the sensation until it shows all its moves.
How shame snares and reduces expression and liberty.
I am sharing this skill in Persephone. I am giving you some tools to do the same.
To look behind the curtain and witness how you are REALLY running your life.

Myths are maps. They were designed to tell us each how to traverse life.
Grief, rage, loss, death and birth are sown through the lines of these stories.
Since I was a girl I devoured these stories.  They felt like necessary food for me.
I learned the language and deciphered the map.
Persephone is a map I have returned to over and over and over again.
When I wrote a version of this story, when it came through me with feminine clarity and agency, I knew there was more here.
And years later here we are with a course birthed from Her story.

Myths are maps. They were designed to tell us each how to traverse life.
Grief, rage, loss, death and birth are sown through the lines of these stories.
Since I was a girl I devoured these stories.  They felt like necessary food for me.
I learned the language and deciphered the map.
Persephone is a map I have returned to over and over and over again.
When I wrote a version of this story, when it came through me with feminine clarity and agency, I knew there was more here.
And years later here we are with a course birthed from Her story.

Persephone is a tale I’ve lived in since I was 16.
Her rhythm between sun and shadow, between Maiden of the Spring and Queen of the Underworld mirrors the cycles I’ve come to be intimate with.
We need both. The light and the dark. Each holy. Each rich with its own medicine.
Through Persephone’s story, we’re given a map. A map that teaches how descending into the deep fills us, so we can rise full and radiant again.
In the course I’ve created, we move through three portals:
The Story. The old myth and a new version I’ve written, told through a feminine lens, where Persephone has full agency. We look at the stories running our lives, and how to rewrite them.
Desire. The pulse of the soul. Desire as compass, the whisper that keeps pointing us toward our souls fulfillment.
Power + Agency. Your power is here. Always. But it needs feeding, expression, devotion. What are you giving your power to right now? And what’s calling to be fed, but you’ve been too afraid to touch?

When I left my husband I felt crippled by confusion. I was spread thin & didn’t know what to do with the little resources I had. I would sit for hours scrolling, laying in bed, rotting. I felt powerless.
I felt overwhelmed and scared that any move I made would be the wrong one.
My trust with myself had broken in my marriage. I needed to rebuild it, rebuild me.
A pottery studio opened and the need to create pushed me right through its door.
In pottery class, a thread woke up in me.
While it seemed an utterly illogical move, I knew I had to keep coming back to the wheel. It became a meditation for me. A lifeline.
That studio became a sanctuary for me, a place where I could learn to experience play and laughter while experimenting on clay to sharpen & trust my instincts.
Discovering through the art of throwing clay what worked, what didn’t.
Feeling the nudges and learning to listen to decipher the language my body was speaking.
I produced bowls and mugs, and with every piece that was successful I recognized how I had surrendered in the moment of creation. Abdicating control for flow.
It was a delicate dance that I was learning.  This listening and then acting with complete surrender.
The wheel was my mat.
I took this practice into the rest of my life.
I felt myself coalescing into a whole woman again.  Felt the thread of desire that had brought me to the studio and I kept my ear to Her pulse.
It took me time to acknowledge what I was hearing. That I was to start my client practice up for breathwork. It had been 17 years since I worked with clients.
I felt scared.
I did not know where to begin.

Today started off with jumping out of bed and washing and laundry and launch into breakfast and making lunches.
I could feel a cry coming on, so I went and had a sob in the bathroom.
Nothing negative was happening, but there are moments when all I’m holding stretches me to the point of popping.
It’s weird and uncomfortable and sometimes I cry in the bathroom.
It’s all ok.
Even when it’s all fast paced, I can take my time. I can snag a moment to feel me.
Tears don’t indicate something is wrong, they indicate something is moving and releasing.
It’s a relief. And worthy of me taking a few minutes to feel.
This morning was a short cry and I was out the door wiping my eyes and getting shoes on small humans.
Tending to me looks like this today.
A cry in the bathroom.
Simple and necessary. I’m grateful my system is not so prone to resistance at this stage in the game.
Resistance is a life thief.
Story telling is a form of resistance.
Keeping us locked in.
I could’ve told myself a whole story this morning.
I chose life.
I chose actively feeling alive.
This is the skill to develop: slice through resistance and get to the energy.

This story I made the other day got women fired up.
So, lets talk.
Everyone wants to have seggs, that’s great. Can we be mature and respectful while endeavoring to get our needs met? I think so.
Here’s the truth: if you honestly believe any of the following, you might be living in fantasy (or lying to yourself)

-believing that men are scarce
-believing that you are a better match for that man, or are better than ‘that woman’
-thinking that you are rescuing or fixing any man (or woman)
-thinking you can ‘love him better’
-believing you are superior to his ex
-pretending sex alone is enough when it isn’t

All of these signal fantasy. Fantasy that you’re better. Fantasy that he doesn’t need time to unwind from his last relationship. Fantasy that you’re the exception.
And when you’re living in fantasy, honesty isn’t possible, because honesty would shatter the fairytale.
I know, because I did this. I lived in fantasy just to exist in my marriage. Truth is, it never would have happened had I been honest with myself. But I wasn’t willing to give up the picture I had in my head: husband, kids, the dream life.
Two days after our wedding, he pinned me against a wall, screaming in my face. Even then, I clung to the illusion.
A service I can provide via my experience is this, get very sober about what is truly driving your need around a particular man. Emotional and mental sobriety is necessary in naming what you truly desire.
Anytime I’ve schemed in this department I have created suffering for myself.
What if you trusted your worth? Trusted that everything meant for you is coming to you?
There is no second power. There is only God. And only God can provide the man.

Hiding is a sneaky little trick. If you’re good at it, you can make people believe you’re being raw, bold, even audaciously visible,
while still tucking away the truth.
I’ve done it. Sleight of hand: I showed what I wanted you to see, and veiled the rest. It looked honest, but really it was a lie. A way to feel safe at the cost of my authentic self.
I’ve realized I wasn’t just protecting me, I thought I was protecting you. I believed I was too much.
See, I always loved the oracles in stories.
I thought they were the coolest.
I wanted to be one.
Well, wouldn’t you know, I am one.
But oracles? They’re almost always cast as the villain.
What I perceive as a gift, many view as a threat.
Because seeing clearly, seeing what hides behind the curtain, feels like a threat to those not ready to be witnessed.
I am a threat to that tricky little trick you’re running.
It’s why I am very good at my work.
I can see you, all of you.
Hold you, all of you, with zero judgement.
Just more of you embodied, ALIVE.
This is what we are here for, to be HERE.
To be wildly open in love, to be FREE.

Flying high above the craggy brown mountains, their architecture put in sharp relief by sunlight and dark shadow, I am awed by the honor of being alive.
I can feel the threads of various story lines in my fingers, how they twine together to form the tale of my life right now.
It is with tremendous intention that I can put more energy into the frequency I desire.
Last night I felt like I may have been getting sick. I felt the story line unfurl, the tragedy of getting ill directly before embarking on a plane to a training I am thrilled to be in.
Felt the way an older version of me liked to make it harder as proof of my suffering. So that others could witness how hard it all is for me.
And I declined to engage that particular lane. I aimed higher and let my body feel strong and healthy. Allowed myself to feel the power of wellness and opened myself to truly receive the blessing of this trip.
This is the fruit of getting clear about what stories are running your life. Choice.
Agency.

There is a dynamism in life, movement in seeming chaos erupts into divine perfection. A feather, a flower, a wave curling towards a sandy beach, my son’s finger wrapped around my own, all flawless.
Aliveness is movement.
Aliveness is breathing.
Holding our breath is a little death. A held breath is a NO to the moving chaos of life.
Most of us are holding our breath, barely sipping air through out the day.
Why?
The pattern of holding your breath keeps things locked up as they are.
Breathing continuously is a dynamic approach to disrupt patterns and invoke life.
How?
It introduces a new rhythm into the body that will agitate the status quo.
Most of us aren’t breathing.
We are sipping air.
And by barely breathing, we barely feel.
By barely feeling we keep ourselves in a sort of survival mode where we limit our capacity for life.
Doesn’t sound very sexy does it?
What would it be like to feel and have access to what is happening in real time with your life?
To grow the ability to respond in real time?
Have you ever had the experience where you are in an intense conversation and you can’t quite respond how you want, then hours later you’re in the shower and a whole monologue appears as a reply?
When your body is densely full of unprocessed material, things are slow to digest. So while you couldn’t respond in the moment, once your body had the time to digest what was happening, suddenly you are clear with a response.
Breath work digests the material lingering in your body giving you more ability to feel and experience your life.
Holding your breath = survival, keeping the status quo.
Keeping your breath on lock, keeps the pattern locked in.
To activate your breath is to disrupt this and introduce fresh possibilities.

Parenting alone is an insane mission. One that has demanded I refine my faith and back it 100%. There is no room for bullshit, because every failure I make is not just mine to bear, it impacts my kids. And that is not something I’m keen to do.
So I work to see where I am blind. I cultivate trust. I stalk my intuition like my life depends on it—because it does.

I was raised by a single mom. I know this terrain from the other side. Not long after I joined the club, I called her to apologize—for all the things I didn’t understand, for how hard she worked with zero support, and for the ways I made her job harder without knowing it.

Because I was raised by a single mom, I had a file of stories about what single motherhood was, how it worked, and what I was going to do differently.
The first few years I spent an immense amount of time crying on my kitchen floor wondering what I was doing wrong, because how could it possibly be THIS hard.
And while solo parenting is an olympic sport of tremendous skill, I was making it much more difficult with my narrative I had running in the background.
The narrative determining my progress and path was one of victim hood, loss, and very low self-worth.
Not the foundation one wants to go into the olympics with.
I had to face the truth of what I had allowed to steer my ship. I had to own my choices and accept that I was the ONLY person responsible for my current circumstances.
While the medicine was bitter, it was sweet in how my life began to shift.

Today I became free.
An anchor I had mistaken as a life raft suddenly dropped.
And instead of sinking, I flew.

I had been giving my power away to a source that has no true consideration for my life. I made this source powerful with my story of how I needed it, how I couldn’t survive without it, that I might be destroyed without it.

I handed over my power, spun a story where they were doing this to me. But the truth? I was complicit. I was keeping myself locked in a compromising position. I was giving compliance, giving attention all while simultaneously resenting it.

Then last night, a single move shifted the board. And suddenly I could see the entire game: the patterns, the choices, the ways I was keeping myself tethered to toxicity. Not theirs. Mine. My moves. My attention feeding the dynamic.

I put the phone down and let all my anger rush through my body, let it come to a screaming pitch inside my head.
I had a moment of complete terror as the implications rippled through my body, all the scary stories in raw feeling.
I felt it all.
And then, it passed.  Gone.

What was left was openness, softness and deep relief.
I was free.
I am free.
I was always free. I had only been playing the game of powerlessness.

The promise of autumn kisses my cheeks in the dewy morning. This heat is a last dance with summer, a reminder to enjoy the flushed warmth in my skin, the line of sweat down my spine and the suns golden claim upon me.
The wheel is always turning, though I often lose myself in the timelessness of any one season.
Summer slips into autumn and we fall down, down, down into coziness and slowness. The wide wreath of travel shrinks and the aperture of life narrows and sharpens.
Persephone’s descent mirrors our own, drawing us inward into our own individual and collective darkness.
What if we could collectively dispel the notion that darkness is loaded with malicious wickedness?
Darkness is the fecund texture in which life grows, decays and is reborn.
It was once celebrated as its own half of the wheel. Autumn and Winter being its seasonal domain. A woman knows this rhythm in her body, as the luteal and menstrual phases.
The moon. Too. empties herself into darkness, only to be reborn as the silver sickle of new beginnings.

California, you have always been my home. My parents and grandmothers and Great Grandparents have made love and birthed families and lived life here.
To me California is mornings tucked under a foggy blanket
Redwoods that poke the blue belly of sky and get tangled in clouds.
It is the endless song of waves lapping and receding and coming back for more.
Hummingbirds that zing about on impossibly tiny wings and make me feel like I just touched a miracle.
This land is green lush hills that turn gold under the bright sun until they look like lion haunches lounging on the horizon.
We live on the edge here.
We are different here.
We understand the perplexity of change and endings here.
Fire and earthquakes and loud music and the rare boom of thunder.
This land is not an idea of what you can get, instead it is a poem written under starry skies. For the people who speak this language, it is God.

When I was 21 I was deeply immersed in my breathwork education, I was in my second year of trainings, and was unpacking a lot of the trauma from my childhood. So, it tracked when I had many memories return.
Sexual assault and scary stuff tumbled back into my consciousness and I was forced to reconcile my entire identity and memory of my life.
And while I suddenly made much more sense to myself, it also became extremely difficult to accommodate this new version of my life. Like trying to shove an extra piece of pie into an already full one.
A friend suggested a therapist friend of hers, and I went. I was a bit lost at sea and thinking back on it now, I wonder why I went at all. But, I did.
And after a brief conversation with me she diagnosed me with a ‘psychotic break’. Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever had a diagnosis before, but they’re scary sounding. At that moment, those words fell on me like a cage, I felt wrong and ashamed and scared. Diagnosis lack humanity. They lack escape routes and dignity.

Persephone is a Goddess.
Let’s pretend she’s a woman. A human woman, like you or me. A woman with a strong will.
There’s so much talk about manifestation, but what is that without will? Will is inertia. The wind in the sails. The long rolling wave that crashes onto shore. God gave us will.
So—what does will do?
Will is what turns desire and dreams into reality. Will is what has me lifting the heavy parts of my life with excitement—because I know what I’m building. Will is my fire. It’s my love for life, made manifest through action, hard work, and devotion. Will can be fierce.
It was will that got me out of a miserable marriage.
It was the eve of my birthday. I’d spent most of the day driving down from the mountains with a toddler, a baby, and a dear friend. I was hopeful he’d help out, that maybe he’d give me a break. But hope is a fickle thing.
He was unkind. Then cruel. And when he told me that no one had ever loved me or wanted me, I knew his words were meant to break me. But instead, they activated my will.
I locked myself in the bathroom. I sobbed.

Many of us are familiar with the myth of Persephone, and for those new to it, I will give you the truncated version.
Persephone is doing her thing, being gorgeous as a Goddess can be, roaming among the wildflowers. Hades is riding around in the chariot of Helios when he sees her and decides that she should be his.
So, as brother to Zeus and generally used to getting whatever the fuck he wants, he does just that. He grabs her. He renders a big old chasm in the earth where he escapes into his kingdom, the Underworld.
Persephone screams clutched in muscly God grip, which alerts her very protective Mother, Demeter Goddess of Fertility, Agriculture and Harvest.
Demeter then pitches a right fit as she levels mountains and desiccates fields trying to find her daughter. She solicits the help of Zeus (father of Persephone) and he says Nah.
So, she burns the crops, dries the milk of all nursing animals, and effectively begins starving the humans, which pushes Zeus to tell Hades he has to give up the girl.
See, while the Greek Gods can front like they’re all powerful, they have one major weak spot; they need the devotion of humans to be their godly selves, without devotion, they slip into the great oblivion of nothing.

In a world where canceling someone is easier than having a hard conversation, where ghosting is so common we’ve named it, real connection can feel delicate.
So let me say this clearly: The people you choose to have around you matter.
Who you let into your world reflects your values—and your self-worth. There’s a saying: You are the five people you spend the most time with. Let’s say that’s true. Look around. Who are you spending your time with?
Do you like them? Are you proud of them? Do you feel bright, lifted, inspired when you’re with them?
And if not—why are you offering them your most valuable resources: your time, your energy, your precious attention?
Find people who are kind. Who are hilarious. Who are honest and willing to get messy—and then stay for the cleanup.
These two right here? Ride or die. They’re funny, deeply honest, and love all of me—even while calling out where I’m being absolutely ridiculous.
A dark sense of humor can be a beam of intimate honesty. Because it’s the honesty that makes real intimacy possible.
Real friendships—rich in love, commitment, and compassionate patience—are the backbone of my life.
Let’s be honest: It matters who you let into your sphere. It matters who you allow to influence your inner world. We’re always adjusting to each other’s frequency. Whether we realize it or not.
So look around. Feel into the frequency of the people you surround yourself with. Do they lift you? Create stagnation? Or quietly drag you down?

Overwhelm happens in a tight space in our minds. When we are coiled, and feel powerless or too small to hold it all. It’s a victim spot. Small, collapsed and overpowered by the mind thinking it’s all too much.
What could happen if you paused.
Took a breath. Kept breathing.
Breathe until you feel your body and begin to feel your system expand.
Feel your capacity grow. It’s’ not complicated, it’s so simple. Slow down.
Feel you.
Feel how you can actively amplify your capacity to hold your life.
Because here is the truth, overwhelm disappears in the face of presence.
What I’m really speaking to is embodiment.
The act of being in your body, and letting your whole self exist.
Not pinned to the tiny mind that can only see a few things.
You are worthy of this strength of presence. Worthy of this powerful attention.
Your attention is your love. Pause and give it to you.

Overwhelm happens in a tight space in our minds. When we are coiled, and feel powerless or too small to hold it all. It’s a victim spot. Small, collapsed and overpowered by the mind thinking it’s all too much.
What could happen if you paused.
Took a breath. Kept breathing.
Breathe until you feel your body and begin to feel your system expand.
Feel your capacity grow. It’s’ not complicated, it’s so simple. Slow down.
Feel you.
Feel how you can actively amplify your capacity to hold your life.
Because here is the truth, overwhelm disappears in the face of presence.
What I’m really speaking to is embodiment.
The act of being in your body, and letting your whole self exist.
Not pinned to the tiny mind that can only see a few things.
You are worthy of this strength of presence. Worthy of this powerful attention.
Your attention is your love. Pause and give it to you.

Reclaiming your body — from what?
From the debris of your own history. So much of what we live through remains undigested in our bodies. The remains of these experiences then form the patterns we live by — mostly unconsciously.
Let me break that down.
If we use the word trauma to mean anything unprocessed in the body — anything left behind that becomes frozen, like a fossil of an experience — then that fossil goes on to dictate our beliefs, reactions, and behaviors. Ultimately, trauma becomes the structure of any pattern. Which means the original experience is still alive and active in your system, and when something triggers it, you’re living it as if it’s happening now.
The idea fueling “reclaiming the body” is curiosity about who you get to be when you’re not being run by programs designed when you were a child? Because, let’s be honest — how are those patterns, or your current choices, serving you? Do they honor the mature human you are now? Or does it all feel a little tired, a little played out?
My desire is to support you in reclaiming your body and your creative force — in opening up and seeing the mechanisms of what’s actually running your show.
It takes great honesty and intimacy with yourself to unpack these survival strategies. And we do that together. The confidence and empowerment that comes from taking yourself on this journey provides a whole new experience of life — richer, fuller, and more meaningful.
And then there’s the radical sense of liberation as you disentangle from stale ways of being — and show up as you, now.
